A source of much excitement at the Hed Kandi camp, Twisted Disco allows for musical digression of a darker and more audacious kind. It is an album that represents the dance floor at its peak, once the small talk is over and the party potion of choice has well and truly taken effect. A foray to the dark side where the tempo is accelerated, the beats are tough, the vocals are minimal and the agenda is hedonism. This is Hed Kandi at its most rebellious.
There's no greater rebel than Jason Brookes' latest incarnation. A twisted sister of the highest ranking she is the most risqué character to ever grace a Hed Kandi album. A personal style epitomizing punk meets pole dancer, her platinum hair will guarantee her more excitement than your average blond , whilst her barely there attire and self-assured stance will hypnotize the entire dance floor.
With two discs featuring 24 heart-thumping tracks, Twisted Disco injects some rough and readiness into what usually comes in the form of sultry, cool and uplifting. Stand out tracks include "Everybody" from Rudenko, a track that launches proceedings and certainly sets the precedent for the journey ahead. A remix of Joey Negro's "Must be the Music" by Nicola Fasano exemplifies the term twisted disco as it cuts away the vocal replacing it with a distorted and techy beat sequence. Other twisted choices include Mobin Master's electrified remix of infectious track "Day&Nite" Kid Cudi V Crookers plus The Montanas&DJ Roland Clark "Music Talking" remixed by D.O.N.S & DBN, which sees this track laid bare via a vocal loop and synth enhanced bassline. Look out for Thomas Gold&Matthias Menck's restyle of the 90's classic track.
