Rzadko można spotkać się z takim typem humoru. Inteligentnym, ale zrozumiałym. Mądrym, ale zawierającym głupotę. Śmiałym, obrazoburczym, ostrym, czarnym, ironicznym, mocnym, a co najważniejsze - śmiesznym.

Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones i Michael Palin - piątka Anglików i Amerykanin, absolwenci wyższych uczelni, ludzie z niesamowitym, specyficznym i rozpoznawalnym poczuciem humoru stworzyli pod koniec 1969 roku "serial", który na stałe zmienił definicję "angielskiego humoru". Słysząc te dwa słowa automatycznie można przytoczyć dwa kolejne - "Monty Python".

45 odcinków, podzielonych na cztery serie, zapewniających głośny, niekontrolowany śmiech.

Każda z tych około 30-minutowych części przesiąknięta jest groteską, ironią i satyrą na powszechnie znane i (nie)lubiane tematy: politykę, sport, wielkie firmy, telewizję, biurokracja, zabobony, przywary, normalne życie. Pythoni nie mają litości dla nikogo - wyśmiewają polityków, osoby na wysokim szczeblu państwowym, gwiazdy kina, sportu, ale po równo dostaje się także zwykłym ludziom.

Aktorstwo w "Latających Cyrkach" jest jednym ze składników rewelacyjnego posiłku - praktycznie każda rola (również kobieca) grana jest przez szóstkę wymienionych przeze mnie wyżej aktorów. Do ich gry nie ma zastrzeżeń, mimo różnorodności ról (dla przykładu Cleese - hitlerowiec, Pan Idiota, prezenter telewizyjny, Pan Pralina, babcia, Arcykretyn itd.) można odnieść wrażenie, że każdy ich gest, mimika czy też wypowiedziany tekst są traktowane jednocześnie z niesamowitym luzem, jak i z wielką powagą, co czyni całość, którą można nazwać wielkim kunsztem aktorskim.

Nie mogę pominąć zjawiska niepowtarzalnego (który raz powtarzam już to słowo?), czyli animowanych wstawek aktorstwa Terry'ego Gilliama. Nie mogę pominąć, ale jednocześnie mogę również określić jednym słowem - arcydzieło.

"Monty Python's Flying Circus" szczyci się także jedną z najlepszych czołówek w historii serialu. Widok wyrastających kwiatów, rur kanalizacyjnych czy też olbrzymiej stopy przygniatającej wszystko, co popadnie może doprowadzić do szerokiego uśmiechu.

"Latający Cyrk Monty Pythona" to ewenement. Arcydzieło, które na wieki wieków będzie rozśmieszać fanów na całym świecie. Skecze "Hiszpańska Inkwizycja", "Martwa Papuga", "Ministerstwo Głupich Kroków" czy wiele, wiele innych znane jest już praktycznie każdemu szanującemu się maniakowi filmów, a sam "Cyrk" zdążył już urosnąć do miana arcydzieła.
