"Czy zastanawialiście się kiedyś, nad istotą bytu i tajemnica istnienia? Co nas czeka po śmierci? Czym jest Bóg i czy w ogóle istnieje? Takie i inne pytania będą nurtować nas w trakcie oglądania "Serial Experiments Lain". Zacznijmy od początku... Główna bohaterka Lain Iwakura ma wyjątkowy "dar"- dostrzega rzeczy i przemiany, których nie zauważają inni. Niestety ten "dar" skazuje ją na samotność i życie we własnym świecie bez przyjaciół... Nawet rodzina zdaje się nie zauważać tego, co dzieje się z Lain... Wszystko zmienia się z dniem otrzymania, pewnego tajemniczego e-maila, którego nadawcą jest Chisa Yomoda. Co w tym dziwnego? Otóż Chisa nie żyje... Popełniła samobójstwo skacząc z dachu. W treści e-maila informuje Lain, że nadal istnieje i tylko porzuciła swoje ciało. Głupi żart, czy szczera prawda?..."
